I have some fun news. This wedding lawyer is getting married! My fiance and I are very excited. Here’s a pic of us celebrating after he popped the question. Yes – I was wearing running shoes when I got engaged and I couldn’t have been happier about it. We were on a hike. I was hungry and couldn’t stop saying how much I wanted a PB&J the whole time. At the top of a ridge, my fiancee proposed. Suddenly, I wasn’t so hungry anymore. I am considering serving PB&J sandwiches at the reception. 🙂
It’s been about 10 days since then and I basically have the major hurdles covered – love of my life, the dress, and the venue. When my fiancee and I began to plan this, I set some intentions to ensure that my inner bridezilla did not emerge. I want to make sure that we plan this wedding and not the other way around. So, in light of that, my intentions:
1) We want this to be fun. Yes, my “wedding” file is now filled with budgets and spreadsheets but really so far we’ve had a lot of fun with this. And, nothing has stressed us out too much. We won’t let it.
2) This is going to be imperfect. I’ve already accepted it. It will be unique to us, and again fun, but the notion of perfection is crazy and outdated. I have a life. I have a job. I have volunteer work (Go Bruins!). I have a fiancee who I love to spend time with. And, I have a blog to write! I can’t and won’t spend every day of my life planning this.
3) It’s most important to us that we have the people who we love most in the world there. The rest will fall into place… with good food and great music of course 🙂
4) I’m taking this opportunity to dive into the wedding industry and learn about it from the perspective of a bride. So far, I’m learning a lot.
